Translation: We have just returned!
And man oh man was it fun. After a hair raising landing at best (apparently the Tegucigalpa airport is one of the only ones in the world where pilots have to be certified to land there due to how stinking close you come to roads, mountains, and anything else that might jump off the ground and get in the way), we caught a cab and made our way up to Nueva Suyapa.
As soon as the cab driver pulled up in front of the house, we saw a ton of the kids sitting there waiting for us. We jumped out of the car and we were literally attacked and hugged until there was not an inch left on our bodies not covered by children. They promptly then went to grab our bags and carry them all inside for us.
Now mind you, this was not easy because we were carrying with us five suitcases as well as our backpacks... not to mention a soccer ball we carried separately to give to the kids as soon as we arrived (an item received with squeals of delight). Four of these suitcases we had stuffed with clothing, jewelry, and a few other items to give to the folks here in the neighborhood. Plus, we had decided to run by the grocery store to pick up enough food for dinner since we knew we would not eat lunch or have time to leave again to get anything. So when we pulled up, we had tons of stuff. This was a little embarrassing given how little they all have. We just kept wanting to tell the kids... ¨Most of this is for you guys!¨ But we´ll wait to tell them that until we can figure out the best way to distribute the stuff.
As soon as the logistics were done, Reade grabbed the camera, the kids grabbed the soccer ball, and we were off for about 4 hours of playing. We gathered the kids we had not seen yet and made our way up to a small soccer court where we spent the rest of the daylight hours. There were pictures, hugs, wrestling, and lots of muffled Spanish words. (We are a little rusty and they still talk really fast.) It could not have been more fun.
At the end of the evening, they crowded into the house and we gave them water and a few sweets that we had brought for them. They definitely did not want to leave, but we had been up since 4am to catch our plane and were exhausted. So we finally ushered them out with many more hugs. We promised them that we´d see them tomorrow, to which one of the boys replied, ¨What time?¨ Ah, it´s going to be a tiring and wonderful couple of weeks. We´ll publish pictures later.

I know it is good to be back!
Mom
Yay guys! What a welcome, huh?? It is weird to think that just hours ago we were here together and now you have already entered the parallel universe that is Neuva Suyapa (at least it feels that way when you've just spent a day around the smithsonian). Enjoy, play, laugh, soak it up, and try and rest a little too okay? Thanks again for EVERYTHING! Love you guys, miss you already.
