Our Amigo, Luis

Reade met a wonderful friend named Luis on one of our many bus rides through Guatemala, and they bonded over medical interests. He is a generous, thoughtful, ambitious young man of 18 years, already in school to be a doctor and wise beyond his years. We ended up being in Xela at the same time as him when he was visiting his friend Michael, and the four of us spent an afternoon together. When Luis learned that we would be leaving the country via his home territory of Guatemala City, he offered up his cozy house to us so that we could safely stay the night before flying out. Below are some pictures of him as well as his lovely mother who graciously gave up her bedroom for us, fed us breakfast, and drove us to the airport. Reade still emails back and forth with Luis. This is one quality guy.
